Posted by Jerry Bergosh on
First let me introduce myself, my name is Jerry Bergosh, and I've been a geologist for 42 years and have been selling playsand for 25 of those years. Sand has played a large role throughout my life; below I chronologically organized my life and how I came to where I am now. I hope you enjoy. 1937-47It all started with my Mom. She grew up in a big city, married my Dad who was from a very small town in western PA. As newlyweds during the Great Depression, they lived with my Dad’s family as he worked in the coal mines and...

Why Sand is Not Dirt
Posted by Jerry Bergosh on
I’ve been asked this question countless times – and even yesterday – over my 25 years of selling play sands as well as my 42 years as a geologist (read about my credentials). How much sand does a Green Turtle Sandbox Need?
Posted by Joe Sloan on
Much like the Radio Flyer Wagon and Lincoln Logs, the Little Tikes Green Turtle is an iconic childhood toy. Despite its familiarity, many ask how much sand is needed for their Green Turtle sandbox to be fully enjoyed. This is a common question we at Jurassic PlaySands get asked. We know it can be confusing hearing about the manufacturer's recommended amount (150 pounds) as opposed to the max capacity (300 pounds). In order to be enjoyed for years and generations to come, we've compiled recommended amounts of sand as your child grows: Children between the ages of 1-2 require 50...
